Welcome Aboard Shipmates –

The Submarine Store is run by submariners for submariners. Harry Lieberman and I  (Robert James "Bodega Bob" Homme) began the conceptual development of Submarine Store in January of 1999 when we met for the first time at the deactivation ceremony of the USS James K. Polk (SSN 645) in Norfolk, Virginia. We had both been crewmembers at some point during the boat's illustrious career from its commissioning as a boomer in 1965 to its decommissioning as an SSN in 1999.

A few beers and many sea stories among ourselves and our submarine brothers guided us to the conclusions that: 1) the submarine community remains small, specialized, and elite; 2) a sincere and honest demand for submarine memorabilia exists; 3) no central, specialized outlet for these items existed, and; 4) between us, we had the knowledge, resources, and commitment to supply these kind of products to our brothers and sisters in the submarine community. Thus, the Submarine Store was born.

This is not a side business for us. This is what we do. You have chosen to visit us and perhaps do business with us. Harry and I are a bit grayer around the temples than when we were riding the boats in the pictures below but we still share the same commitment to those in the submarine community that we had then…that we have had all of our lives since then. We welcome the opportunity to provide this service to you. We are committed to the success of the venture. We are committed to the satisfaction of our customers.
